Elizabeth, Refuge Sewing Society
Elizabeth, from South Sudan, is known as “Mama,” or “Grandmother,” to the other members of the Refugee Sewing Society, which is based in Clarkston. The group sells handmade items at local markets and online, with all proceeds going to members.
The Refugee Sewing Society is a faith-based Christian non-profit that serves refugee women from around the world who find themselves starting a new life in America.
